On 24 December 2020, the EU and the UK signed an agreement which has been provisionally applicable since 1 January 2021.
Please note that even under the terms of this free trade agreement, goods must be customs cleared.
We urgently recommend you to discuss the following points with your UK recipients:
The importer defined by Incoterm is responsible for customs clearance.
As soon as we provide you with the information on the customs process, it must be forwarded to the importer and/or the agent.
Import customs clearance must be carried out immediately.
For example, only vehicles that are cleared before arrival are allowed into the terminal for the Port of Immingham.
UK IMPORT CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
Although a trade agreement between the EU and the UK was eventually concluded, please note that customs formalities are still mandatory.
To ensure that your consignments are processed as quickly as possible, it is imperative that the relevant importer contact an agent directly in order to carry out the import customs clearance.
We can recommend an agent or set up a direct contact if you wish.
